Foley & Lardner LLP is currently seeking an experienced Electronic Billing (E-Billing) Manager to join our team! Under the direction of the Associate Director, Revenue Management, the E-Billing Manager will manage all electronic billing inventory and processes to ensure seamless operations and compliance with outside counsel guidelines for the firm. This position will oversee the e-billing team and will work closely with the Sr. Billing Manager, Billing Operations Manager, and the Billing and Client Services teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical acumen, and extensive knowledge of legal e-billing platforms. This role demands excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to collaborate and build productive relationships to support the firm’s goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work with firm leadership to strategically assess the e-billing function and enhance key integration points in the revenue cycle
  • Serve as the firm's subject matter expert regarding legal e-billing platforms and stay up to date on industry trends, updates, and best practices
  • Identify opportunities to enhance e-billing procedures and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and minimize disruptions to e-billing operations
  • Review outside counsel guidelines and document financial terms to ensure all invoices comply with e-billing requirements to reduce invoice rejections
  • Work closely with internal and external clients to understand and comply with invoice requirements, ensuring satisfaction with the firm's e-billing services
  • Lead a team of e-billing professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure the efficient handling of e-billed inventory
  • Conduct training sessions for team members and other staff on e-billing systems and processes, fostering an environment of continuous learning and transparency
  • Generate and analyze e-billing inventory reports to provide insights into performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Liaise with e-billing vendor to address technical issues and ensure optimal service levels
  • Develop and execute process improvements to enhance the firm’s e-billing capabilities to align with overall business objectives
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including attorneys, peers, clients, and vendors
  • Demonstrate executive presence and confidently communicate with firm partners to resolve issues or concerns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration OR a minimum of eight (8) years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree required
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of legal billing experience required 
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience managing e-billing operations within a law firm or similar professional services environment required
  • 3E experience preferred
  • eBilling Hub, Bill Blast, or equivalent experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Intapp products including Open, Time and Terms desired
  • Prior experience working with e-billing vendors
  • Ability to lead technology projects to improve e-billing operations
  • Robust understanding of e-billing systems and platforms with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively
  • Strong ability to lead and manage a team and promote a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to accurately analyze data to provide meaningful insights to inform decision making
  • Strong client service orientation with the ability to understand and address client needs effectively
  • Demonstrate agility and flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities   #LI-Hybrid

In support of transparency and equity in the workplace, Foley provides salary ranges for all positions. The figures below represent the full compensation range of this position. The actual offered amount will be between the range minimum and midpoint based on the following factors: education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley.
Chicago, Dallas, and Houston - $124,900 to $187,300
