The Manager, Alumni Relations will be responsible for driving Foley & Lardner’s alumni relations program in line with the firm’s strategic plan. The Foley Alumni Network is an inclusive community where alumni can connect with former colleagues and current Foley firm members and encourages alumni to stay connected and serve as advocates for the firm.  This role will work closely with the firm leaders, the Business Development & Marketing team, Talent team, Office Administrators, and others across the firm. Responsibilities include: tracking and maintaining information on Foley & Lardner alumni (including database management); managing the alumni web portal, mobile app, and LinkedIn group; developing alumni engagement campaigns and communications; leading alumni-related business development/ client relations and marketing activities and initiatives; event planning and execution; tracking program metrics and KPIs; and managing the program’s budget.

Responsibilities

Planning:

  • Execute and enhance our alumni program’s plan to help move the firm’s strategy forward
  • Work closely with sector and department chairs, office managing partners, and the business development and talent teams to a develop strategy, action plan, and infrastructure necessary to support the program’s goals
  • Build a working knowledge of the firm’s key clients, sectors, industries, practice groups, and regions to clearly understand each group's strategy, priorities, and clients – establishing thought leadership that targets alumni and strengthens the reputation of the firm
  • Develop and uphold a budget for the alumni relations program

Execution:

  • Identify and execute alumni-focused initiatives (e.g., networking events, referral networks, etc.) that will support business development goals and objectives for the sectors, practices, industries, and regions
  • Plan and execute campaigns and events that continue to foster strong relations with firm alumni, including community events, affiliate groups, and tailored CLE programs among others
  • Work closely with the talent team to identify career opportunities and resources for alumni that leverage our network
  • Regularly research and update information for alumni in the firm’s CRM system, utilizing LinkedIn, Profile Synch, news reports, etc.
  • Refine, optimize, and execute various workflows and processes integral to the program’s operational success
  • Regularly prepare and distribute reports on metrics and KPIs (on alumni by demographics, such as location, industry, sector, practice group, etc.)

Communication:

  • In coordination with the communications team, create an internal and external communications strategy that engages and informs alumni of developments and opportunities at the firm, which may include alumni-focused newsletters, thought leadership pieces, spotlight series, speaking opportunities, and social media outreach
  • Refine and drive forward our value proposition and internal marketing materials that clearly articulate the value, benefits, and goals of the alumni relations program
  • Ensure that the alumni program is recognized as a market leading program in the industry

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required  #LI-Hybrid 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in business development, marketing, talent, relationship management or communications experience required
  • Must have experience working in a professional services environment
  • Prior experience working with, or a solid understanding of, alumni relations programs in professional services strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of/experience with a contact relationship management (CRM) system and alumni management software/portal technology is a plus

In support of transparency and equity in the workplace, Foley provides salary ranges for all positions. The figures below represent the full compensation range of this position. The actual offered amount will be between the range minimum and midpoint based on the following factors: education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley.

  • Detroit, Milwaukee & Tampa - $113,500 to $170,300
  • Chicago, Dallas & Denver  - $124,900 to $187,300
  • Los Angeles - $130,500 to $195,800
  • Boston & Washington D.C. - $136,200 to $204,400
